With 2011 behind us, we decided to roundup the Esjay tracks from the past year for you guys. The mixtape includes features by Raveena Aurora, Satinder Sartaj, Oasis and more.
Esjay provides his views on the 8 track mixtape below.
MONEY DROPS
“Money Drops was a hard hitting track for sure. The drop was heavy on this one. The track brought some recognition for me as well. I brought it to the attention of Diplo and the folks at Mad Decent who decided to feature it on their blog. I didn’t know until I started getting a crazy amount of hits on our Soundcloud … it was definitely exciting to have the song heard by so many people.”

FAUX-KISS
Esjay also had a chance of working on a track by the talented Raveena Aurora from New York. Taking the talented songstress’ vocals and piano, Esjay added his flavor to the track, “My buddy Karn showed me the original track by her called Fools which I thought was absolutely awesome. It had an incredibly deep feel to it and I knew it was something I’d want to work on. It’s clear in the music that she’s very very good at what she does.”

THE DRUM IN BARCELONA
“The title of this track comes from a trip I made to Barcelona a little while ago. I remember hearing this drum their that was just amazing. When I was putting together the sounds for this track I came across the same drum and it inspired me to make a track with the same vibe I got from the city. This was a very fun track to work on.”

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT
“This track started the whole year off as far as music for me. I wasn’t sure what I should do in terms of music and I figured just do something and see what comes. The song did exactly what the title says, causing a butterfly effect for the rest of the year. Shoutout to Rande3p and Mali for taking the cover art picture on this one too”
HOMETOWN GLORY
“This was an awesome experience working with Satinder Sartaj’s vocals. Our styles are so different but I really enjoy his music so I knew something cool would come out of it. This was the first desi track I did in a long time which made it even funner.”

JUST DO IT
“This beat I had stored for a while and decided to pull it out for an upgrade. The original plan was to get it to a rapper but I just ended up messing around with some vocals and I loved the sound. I’m a Nina Sky fan too so that was definitely a plus. The title describes the mindset I was in at the time – JUST DO IT”

THE WONDER WALL
“Wonderwall is probably my favorite song of all time and Oasis my favorite band so I wasn’t sure I wanted to do a remix to the track. As far as I saw the track was perfect, but doing a remix is all about bringing a different feel to the song and not necessarily trying to enhance it. I sat down with the vocals and as soon the beat kicked in with the vocals for the first time I knew it would be something cool.”
About The Wonder Wall Cover Art

HORSEY
“This was for a contest that Maddecent held on their blog. I consider diplo the most progressive producer in the game right now so getting a chance to work with his sounds was a great learning experience. It was dope working with a Moombahton rythm too, I’ll definitely do songs like this in the future.”
